Can you tell me a little about Saint James Church?

Saint James Church is located on Northpark Drive in Colorado Springs, CO. We are a church with resurrection power! No matter who you are or where you’ve come from, you are welcome here! We want to show you that God’s love is bigger and better than anything you have ever experienced! St. James Church is a Bible-believing Spirit-filled Evangelical Church emphasizing the centrality of Christ. The mission of Saint James Church is to fulfill the great commission to make disciples by fulfilling the great commandments to love. Our slogan is "The church with resurrection power"! Our church motto is: "Doing our faith". We know that biblical love is both the marker of a true believer and the solution to every sin problem. As a result, when difficulties arise, we apply the Scripture to heal, restore, redeem, and serve the struggling one back onto the right path. We believe in internal transformation and progressive sanctification by God's Word and Spirit.

In the bible, we see that Jesus did not shun anyone but welcomed all, and here at Saint James Church in Colorado Springs, CO that is how we operate within our walls and out in our neighborhoods. We meet on Sunday mornings at 10:00 am for our worship service, then at 6:00 pm for prayer and at 7:00 for bible study. On Wednesdays, our men’s and women’s groups meet, and we have high school ministry on Sundays at 6:30. We have something for everyone looking to love God and serve their neighbors. No matter your age or background, we have a place for you to belong as we learn to love and obey God’s word together.

What are the main beliefs of an Evangelical Church?

The foundation of evangelism begins with the belief of being born again and that Christians must repent and convert. Evangelical Christians believe that the Bible is God's word and is the final authority. Evangelicals place great value on the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, and believe this is the only way towards the redemption of humanity.

Who is the pastor?

Ted Haggard is the founding pastor of St. James Church in Colorado Springs, CO, the second church he and his wife, Gayle, have started since their marriage in 1978. He also serves as the Director of Church Planting for The River Conference of the Free Methodist Church and founder and coordinator of The Network of Redemptive Churches. Pastor Aaron Wright, Pastor Jack Woloshun, and Pastor Jonathan Johnson round out the team at St. James Church.

Ted and his wife Gayle started St. James Church in the summer of 2010 in their barn before purchasing an office building and auditorium for weekly services. Gayle released a New York Times best-selling book titled Why I Stayed in 2010, and her second book, Courageous Grace, in 2013. Ted was invited to switch his ordination to the Free Methodist Church in 2015, which he accepted. Prior to that, he had been ordained Southern Baptist since 1978.

Ted and Gayle live in Colorado Springs, where two of their five children, Jonathan and Elliott, also live. Their daughter, Christy, and her husband, Javier, live in New Jersey with their son, Sebastian. Their son, Marcus, and his wife, Sarah, and three children live in Virginia. Alex, their third son, works and goes to school in Seattle, WA.

Our Church statement of faith:

Holy Bible: The Holy Bible, and only the Bible, is the authoritative Word of God. It alone is the final authority in determining all doctrinal truths. In its original writing, it is inspired, infallible and inerrant (see 2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20, 21; Prov. 30:5; Rom. 16:25,26).

Trinity: There is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are coequal and coeternal (see 1 John 5:7; Gen. 1:26; Matt. 3:16, 17; 28:19; Luke 1:35; Isa. 9:6; Heb. 3:7-11).

Jesus Christ: Jesus Christ is God the Son, the second person of the Trinity. On Earth, Jesus was 100 percent God and 100 percent man. He is the only man ever to have lived a sinless life. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died on the cross for humankind, and thus, atoned for our sins through the shedding of his blood. He rose from the dead on the third day according to the Scriptures, ascended to the right hand of the Father, and will return again in power and glory (see John 1:1, 14; 20:28; 1 Tim. 3:16; Isa 9:6; Phil. 2:5,6; 1 Tim. 2:5).

Please join us today at our Sunday Church Service in Colorado Springs at 10 am or at any other of bible study or ministry groups. Everybody is welcome, we look forward to meeting you. Saint James Church is the church with Resurrection power!
